Not even a year has passed since Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) started the School of Open Learning. But, complaints have started to come in regarding mismanagement. Sophomores have said that during the year no regular teaching or evaluation work was carried out.

After the open learning school launched its MA, MCom, and journalism and communication courses, 15,000 students entered various courses. Admissions continued through October 2019.
When courses It began, the students were asked to coordinate with 40 centers in Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar regarding the lectures (which happen once a week) and the study material that was to be provided to them.
One of the freshmen, who took admission to MA (political science), said: “No lectures have been held or asked to send assignments. SPPU had introduced the course work on the university campus.

But there were no conferences and now they have started the second year process for which they have asked us to pay ”.
Another student, who has entered the journalism and mass communication course, said: “The pune university had promised to send us study material, but all they have given us are links to some online courses and links to National Digital Library. A single conference was held. Without teaching, we have been promoted to next year. "

Students have been given the September 30th deadline to complete second-year admission. However, students are simply contacting the centers to obtain study material, which they did not receive during the first year. There was no answer.
One understudy stated: "We haven't got any books in the main year that we paid for. Presently, the college approaches us to acknowledge confirmations for the subsequent year. The SPPU ought to at any rate lessen study expenses".

One of the officials at a center in Pune said that many students wanted to change the open learning course to a regular one. As both courses are under the university degree, he believes that they should be allowed to change the nature, of course. However, Sanjeev Sonawne, director of the Open Learning School, said: “We have provided all the information about the courses and the assessment online. Your inquiries are answered. We have received complaints from some

Students who also wish to change their open learning courses to regular courses. It's not possible."
On the study material not available, he said that the work is finished and only the impression remains. "It would not have been possible to print during closing and distribution was not possible either," he said.
